#WhatsHappening for January 20, 2019

It seems to be more important than ever that we remember the life and legacy of this man- and the thousands of others who fought the fight with him, and have kept on fighting to this very day. You may not recognize their names as you do his, but they are no less important.
Equally important is that we realize the fight isn't over. Not even close.
We share this little ball of dirt. That's not going to change- at least, not in our lifetimes- and, whether your pride in your "heritage" allows you to admit it or not, we're all related. So embrace your family.

New York's Metropolitan Opera is offering federal employees affected by the current shutdown free tickets to shows through the end of the month to people with government IDs.
Bizet’s Carmen, Mozart’s Don Giovanni, Debussy’s Pelleas et Melisande, Cilea’s Adriana Lecouvreur, and a double bill of Tchaikovsky’s Iolanta and Bartok’s Bluebeard’s Castle are the works being performed.
It's the thought that counts, right?

BMG announced Friday that Huey Lewis and the News will be releasing their next album through the label- the band's first set of original material in 18 years.
Lewis said the band is "very excited about our new album, and honestly feel that it’s among our best work -- we cannot wait to get it out to fans!"
No word on a tour in support of the album, but you'd have to assume Lewis' hearing loss makes that nearly certain not to happen.
