Do you live in the United States? It's Tax Day, just in case you missed almost everyone else talking about it.

Speaking of everyone talking about it, the big story today has to be the fire at Notre Dame in Paris, which was still burning as of 5:30 EST this afternoon, began around 6:50 Paris time (1:50 EST).
I've been to Notre Dame, but was unfortunately suffering from a stomach bug that day and didn't get to go inside. I should have toughed it out, I guess.

The late Aretha Franklin has been awarded a Special Citation by the Pulitzer Prize board for "her indelible contribution to American music and culture for more than five decades."
The most recent Special Citation was awarded in 2010 to Hank Williams. Previous musical recipients include Bob Dylan, Duke Ellington, John Coltrane, Thelonious Monk, George Gershwin, William Schuman, Milton Babbitt, Scott Joplin, Roger Sessions, and Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II.
Franklin is the first woman to be awarded the prize.

Coachella was this past weekend. But, before you lament that you missed it, don't forget that festival/AEG owner Philip Anschutz is still listed as a donor to the Alliance Defending Freedom and the Family Research Council, both anti-LGBTQ organizations, along with supporting hard-line, right wing causes and candidates.
So, instead of piling on to "celebrities" for speaking their minds politically, you might want to point out their hypocrisy for putting money in the pockets of the people they rail against.

Their's an opinion piece on Billboard today that puts forward the idea that "Veteran Artists Should Stick to Three New Songs Per Concert." Thoughts?
Me, I love hearing the "classics", but I enjoyed the hell out of seeing Fleetwood Mac do new songs while touring in support of Say You Will back in 2004. Ditto for Paul McCartney on his Memory Almost Full. And I would have been damned disappointed if Duran Duran hadn't played any songs from Red Carpet Massacre when I saw them.
