A quick aside before we go on: If it's not in the book, we don't have it. We're happy to search for songs to add- but some of them have been removed. On purpose.

In case you missed it, this was yesterday's Google doodle, celebrating what would have been Desi Arnaz's 102nd birthday. If you've never heard Arnaz outside of I Love Lucy reruns, I highly recommend you track down some of his recordings and give them a listen.

Andra Day, Dave Stewart, and Philip Bailey and Verdine White of Earth, Wind & Fire will perform among the performers for a fundraising gala honoring Prince tonight.
Proceeds from the performance will benefit the In a Perfect World foundation created by Prince's second wife, Manuela Testolini. Anthony Anderson will host the event and Bobby Brown, Chaka Khan, and Apollonia Kotero are scheduled to attend.
Testolini told The Associated Press on that performances will be "heavy on Prince music." Testolini called her former husband "a big part of the beginnings of In a Perfect World" and the foundation's "first and most ardent supporter. We thought it was a good time to take a step back and really recognize him."
Andre Cymone, a childhood friend and early bandmate of Prince, will collect the award on Prince’s behalf.
The foundation works around the world on initiatives benefiting underserved educators and young people.

Detroit-area authorities are investigating a complaint filed by Aretha Franklin shortly before her death last year alleging a stolen check for $178,000 that was cashed.
The prosecutor in the case said Franklin filed the complaint with Bloomfield Township police in June, but that the investigation has been hampered by her passing, and that it has proven "difficult to determine" if she gave the check to someone who actually had permission to cash it. (Which, to me, seems weird- seeing as she filed a police report.)
Police have interviewed the person who cashed the check, but have declined to release the person's name. The prosecutor says the check could become an issue for Franklin's estate.

The director of the documentary Leaving Neverland tells Billboard that the "film was never about Michael Jackson and I don't really know that much about Michael Jackson."
The film premieres tonight and tomorrow night on HBO, and tells the story of Wade Robson and James Safechuck- whose names Reed and his researchers uncovered while investigating molestation accusations against the singer.
Reed says the his film is about Robson, Safechuck, and their families "coming to terms with what happened to them as children" and says that they are in a position to educate people "about how this kind of grooming child sexual abuse really goes on."
"If we can begin to tell that bigger story to the world, then it doesn't matter if it's Michael Jackson or the priest or the guy next door or the uncle or the beloved family friend that you trusted with your child."
