Hello, kids- happy Friday!

Seriously, I'd have in ear plugs, too.
Okay, this is just too funny not share. Dads at OneDirection concerts. From Awkward.com.

Swiss researchers have determined that, if you're looking to make the best cheese, you should play hip-hop while it ages.
Their experiment, the "Cheese in Surround Sound," involved nine 22-pound wheels of Emmental cheese made from the same cow's milk in nine separate wooden crates, which were each exposed to various types of sound waves and songs continuously for six months.
The music selections included Mozart's The Magic Flute and Led Zeppelin's Stairway to Heaven, and one wheel was kept in silence. After the cheeses matured, they were analyzed by professional food technologists, who concluded the cheese wheels exposed to music had a milder flavor compared with the control cheese and the best flavor came from the cheese exposed to A Tribe Called Quest's Jazz (We've Got)- saying it had "a discernibly stronger smell and stronger, fruitier taste than the other test samples."
A panel of Swiss chefs, politicians and artists also sampled the cheeses in a blind taste test and agreed that the cheeses that were played hip-hop were sweeter than the rest.

Both members of the Liverpool band Her's died Wednesday in a car wreck in Arizona while heading to a gig in California. Their tour manager also died in the wreck.
The band had just released their debut album- which had been featured on BBC Introducing.
Representative's for the band's label said "we are all heartbroken. Their energy, vibrancy and talent came to define our label... As humans, they were warm, gentle and hilarious. Each time they stopped by the office made for an uplifting experience."

Billboard headline: The Cure's 40 Best Songs: Critic's Picks
I'd be hard-pressed to name four Cure songs, much less 40.

Perry Farrell of Jane's Addiction said today that his first solo album in 18 years- Kind Heaven- would be released on June 7.
Farrell said the album was recorded with the Kind Heaven Orchestra, and features work from Dhani Harrison, Elliot Easton of The Cars, and Taylor Hawkins of Foo Fighters, and was co-produced by Tony Visconti.
Farrell will embark on a mini-tour in support of the album, kicking things off with a stop at City Winery in New York City. The tour also includes a stop at City Winery in Atlanta on June 22. Check out the debut single from the album.

One of our friends asked recently about taking our requests via an online app as they'd seen in other venues. At the time, my answer was that I didn't have a way to prevent people from making multiple requests and clogging up the rotation with twenty-five "slips" from Clem, featuring show tunes from the 50s.
Of course, not two weeks later, the makers of the karaoke program I use released an update that allows online requests while also allowing me to limit the number of requests a person can make at one time. So, once I finish getting it set up and eliminate the no-nos (which the program catalogs, even if they aren't in the songbook), I'll have that up and running. In the meantime, if you'd like a digital copy of our songbook to peruse, drop me a line and let me know.

Marvin Gaye's "lost" album, You're The Man, was released by Motown today. The record features 17 tracks that were supposed to be the follow-up to the iconic What's Going On, and were recorded in Detroit and Los Angeles.
The album is available for streaming or purchase at all your favorite music outlets.
