Good Sunday morning, friends.
Turkey day is done, and if you thought the onslaught of holiday ads was at full tilt before- well, you were fooling yourself. Look, it's not like I don't like the holidays- but the relentless commercialization drove me away a long time ago. I still do presents for friends and family, but I'm not much for the rest (and most Christmas music is a tad too treacly for my taste).
Still, it's not all bad. Sometimes people are a tad less dick-ish, so there's that.

Dear everyone-
The name of the album is The Beatles.
There's no such set called The White Album.
Signed-
Me.
PS (on a totally unrelated note): Nobody performs "live" during the Macy's Parade (or the Rose Bowl Parade, or whatever) besides the marching bands. Get over it.

Aretha Franklin's 5,600-square-foot next to the Detroit Golf Club has been sold for an underwhelming $300,000, according to the Detroit News.
The sale of the home, built in 1927, was finalized last month, and the buyer was not identified. Franklin had owned the property since 1993. A representative for her estate said "there are no other Detroit properties" owned by the singer, though her house in Bloomfield Township is still listed for sale.

Public Service Announcement from Southpaw, on behalf of Karaoke Shows Everywhere:
If you can't wait for your turn (something that's taught, along with sharing, to most kindergarteners), don't bother turning in a song request.
I don't know how many times I have to go over the same territory, but- here we go again:
I try to be fair about who gets to sing. This includes trying to work in as many new singers into a rotation as possible before letting Billy Bob and Jeanette do their fourth Conway/Loretta duet of the night.
If you find this unfair, I suggest you rent out a room at a karaoke bar or hire us for a private party where you can be the star of the show. My goal is to try to get maximum participation, and for everyone to get a song in before turning the rotation over. I know there are hosts at other venues who operate differently (as is their prerogative), but- considering the volume of folks we normally have who want to come out and party with us- I don't think it's fair that one person gets to perform five times while others perform once. This does fall by the wayside if the person who hasn't performed comes in late in the evening, but- otherwise- I usually manage to work them in.

We assume this is a selfie you took. |
Case in point, there's one fellow (who's been a faithful patron since 2009, when we kicked things off) who sits patiently and does his songs. He's understanding- and quite amiable about the fact that other people get to sing, even though he turned in his second (or third) slip before they did. He understands that karaoke is more fun when more people play along. In nine years, I think he's asked me one time when his turn was coming (and, if I recall, it was because it was nearing cut-off time and he was going to leave and I was going to cut his song).
The point is, it's all about fun. Getting pissy about having to wait? Well, that's your problem- until you try to make it mine. Then, well, buckle up, buttercup. The more of an asshole you are, the more of an asshole I'll be- and, believe me, I'm much more accomplished at it.

I'll be the first to admit I don't really know anything about Jeezy, but- credit where credit's due: The rapper (real name Jay Jenkins) surprised a Marietta family with Thanksgiving dinner and a promise to assist them with housing after their own home burned down last week.
WSB reported that Jenkins offered to pay the Natt family’s hotel bill for the rest of the year after the family was forced to relocate in the fire's aftermath. Jenkins called his offer an example of "what Atlanta’s all about."
In this case- good show, young man.
