#WhatsHappening for November 17, 2018

Good Saturday morning, friends and neighbors. Hope you're all prepared for the onslaught: The "holiday" season starts next week.

Don't forget to join Mark tonight for Saturday Night Karaoke at the Iron Horse Tavern in historic downtown Norcross. It's all the hits you love to sing and karaoke madness at its best.

Paul McCartney is running a contest where the selected winner gets a V.I.P. package to his show in Liverpool- plus, gets to join Sir Paul on stage to sing a duet.
Bruce Springsteen is running a contest where the winner get tickets to his sold-out, soon to end Broadway run, along with a private, backstage meet and greet with the Boss himself and an autographed guitar.
Now, both of these prizes sound exceedingly cool. I'd love to win either of them. What I don't love is that they require people who want to enter donate to charity. While that, in itself, doesn't bother me, you have to donate to the charity that each artist names. In Springsteen's case, that's The Bob Woodruff Foundation, and McCartney's charity of choice is Meat Free Monday. And it's not like I object to either of them - but, sorry Paul- I'm not going vegan. I'd just prefer to choose who my donations go to.
It seems to be a trend, though, I've seen a number of artists taking the same route to raising funds, so I guess if you're wanting to win, that's the cost of entry.
Me? I'll stick to my own devices, charity wise.
