#WhatsHappening for August 11, 2017

Good Friday evening, friends. Hope you've all had a great weekend. Now, let's get this weekend rolling, m'kay?

Let me say upfront that I'm not a fan of Taylor Swift (I'm pretty sure I've said that before) and wouldn't know her if she knocked on my front door and started singing one of her terrible songs if I answered. Still, I am a fan of her testimony in the lawsuit/countersuit Swift is involved in with a former DJ who she claims groped her.
I'll spare the details (they seem to be all over the web today) but I had to laugh at a number of her responses to questions from opposing counsel. Swift's bodyguard testified late this afternoon and corroborated her account of the incident in which she claims the man put his hand up her skirt and "grabbed (her) ass."
And if you seen the picture, I'd say it corroborates her side of the story. It sure looks like he has his hand up her skirt.

As always, death proves to be good for sales: Glen Campbell recordings have seen a 5,429% jump after his death earlier this week.

Philadelphia mayor Jim Kenney announced yesterday that Dionne Warwick would be awarded with the Marian Anderson Award, that's presented to "critically acclaimed artists who have impacted society in a positive way."
The five-time Grammy winner will receive the award at a November 14 ceremony.

A US District Judge has ordered rapper/actor DMX be confined to his New York City home for his repeated violations of the bail conditions of his tax fraud charges.
The judge also ordered electronic monitoring and stipulated that DMX must seek permission to travel at least a week in advance.
Judge Jed Rakoff also said that a "strong argument could be made for keeping him in jail," but added he believed judicial authorities were sometimes too quick to incarcerate people awaiting trial.

Don't forget to join Mark tomorrow night for another rockin' edition of Saturday Night Karaoke, live and loud at the Iron Horse Tavern in Historic Downtown Norcross.
Birthdays today include: J-Boog of B2K (32); Ali of A Tribe Called Quest (47); Charlie Sexton (49); Bragi Ólafsson of The Sugarcubes (55); Joe Jackson (63); Eric Carmen (68); Jim Kale of the Guess Who (74); Mike Hugg of Manfred Mann (75). #MusicalBirthdays
