#WhatsHappening for August 12, 2017

Good Saturday morning, kids. (Hey, at least I got the date right this morning!)
Don't forget to join Mark tonight for Saturday Night Karaoke at the Iron Horse- live, loud, and all up in your business from 10pm-1am!

If you'll look to the right, you'll see that I've added a "Follow by E-Mail" link to page, as well as a Song Request form. If you'd like to get these little missives via e-mail, fill out the first one. If there's a song you want to perform with us that isn't in the songbook, go ahead and send it along.

I'd ask that you please keep in mind that I know fuck-all about current music so I kind of need you to send me the title and artist! Oh, also that some selections might not be available (and I have zero control over that), and- if it's a song I've removed from the book (like Don't Stop Believin'), it's not coming back.
Recent additions to the playlist include Owl City's Fireflies, Walk the Moon's Shut Up And Dance, and Falco's version of Der Kommisar.

Looks like I (and millions of others who'd been reporting it) wasn't the only one convinced by Taylor Swift's testimony- the judge in case between Swift and former Denver DJ David Mueller has tossed the case, ruling that he offered no proof
that her allegations of groping cost him his job.
As Nelson Muntz would say, "ha ha!"
U.S. District Judge William Martinez ruled yesterday it didn't appear that Swift's intent was to get Mueller fired and she would not be held liable. Similar allegations against her mother and radio handler will go to the jury.
I'm sure Mr. Mueller would welcome in the employ of our current president.

A post on Glen Campbell's Facebook page said the singer was laid to rest in Delight, Arkansas- his hometown- on Wednesday after a private burial ceremony.
"The Campbell family would like to thank everyone for their enormous outpouring of love and support," the statement read. "Glen was laid to rest on Wednesday in a private ceremony in his hometown of Delight, AR. A private memorial will follow."
Still no word on a public memorial.

Fulton County DA Paul Howard said yesterday that there is no current investigation of R. Kelly in light of allegations that he had held women against their will, despite calls Fulton County Commission chair John Eaves for a criminal investigation.
Eaves claims a "detailed local investigation by the John Creek Police Department has provided key information that we believe is enough evidence that gives the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office all it needs to advance a criminal investigation of the well-known allegations," allegations that sprang from a Buzzfeed article.
Kelly and his attorneys have denied the allegations

Birthdays today include: Tanita Tikaram (46); Sir Mix-A-Lott (Not in the songbook, not coming back) (54); Roy Hay of Culture Club (56); Pat Metheny (63); Jerry Speiser of Men At Work (64); Kid Creole (no, not the one who stabbed the homeless man) of Kid Creole & the Coconuts (67); and Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits (68). #MusicalBirthdays
