Hey kids- happy hump day.
It's hard to believe that Labor Day will be on us soon- and that means it's time to get ready, because The Eighth Annual Costumes & Karaoke Party returns to the Iron Horse Tavern in October. Sexy, funny, scary- you name it, it'll be there- along with prizes for best costume, scariest costume, sexiest costume, and best performance-related costume. We'll nail down the date soon- but I'm guessing October 28th, so mark your calendar!
I really need some coffee, but my feet are killing me. Back when I had to have that tendon in my ankle repaired, the doctor told me I also had plantar fasciitis- which wasn't making my feet feel any better. But I really want some coffee. Anyway, while I was out...

Sheila E. is percussionist for Prince's band in the film. |
Showtime has acquired broadcast rights to Prince's Sign O' The Times concert movie, which was filmed at Paisely Park and during dates in the Netherlands and Belgium during the worldwide tour in support of the album (which I still say was the best album he ever did- and I freaking love Purple Rain).
The movie has reportedly never been released on DVD, though Amazon does list BluRay copies as being available- for the low, low price of $175.75.

I see where Samsung has unveiled the successor to their ill-fated Note 7, which was famous for spontaneously bursting into flames. I think they should call the new one "Phoenix", but it has been dubbed the Note 8.
Demi Lovato announced on Twitter today that she'd be joining the list of performers at this Sunday's MTV Video Music Awards.
Lovato joins Miley Cyrus, Ed Sheeran, The Weeknd, and other previously announced entertainers. I have to wonder though, wouldn't you think MTV would be announcing performers?
Also, since it's called the Video Music Awards, shouldn't the network, you know, actually play some fucking music videos? For fuck's sake.
Taylor Swift has a new album coming out. The singer made the announcement today. For some reason, her fans are completely losing their shit about it.
Alright then.

Are we 100% sure Corey Feldman isn't Skrillex? |
Police in Saudi Arabia have arrested a 14-year-old boy after he was filmed dancing to the Macarena at an intersection in Jiddah.
The video, which of course went viral, shows the boy dancing in the intersection while wearing head phones and wearing gray sweat shorts, a striped T-shirt and neon green and yellow Crocs. (Seriously? I mean, I'm no haute couture template, but was it the fashion police that arrested him?)
The young man was charged with disrupting traffic and improper public behavior and released to his father.
Birthdays today include: SkyBlu of LMFAO (31); Dean DeLeo of Stone Temple Pilots (56); Edwyn Collins (57); Rick Springfield (68); Linda Thompson (70); and Roger Greenway (79). #MusicalBirthdays
