#WhatsHappening for May 10, 2016

I know, I know. I've been shirking my duties. I just haven't had much to say- or, rather, the urge to say much. A) I started a new day job this week, and I've been tired; 2) I've been concentrating on trying to find a new car (my Elefant went bye-bye); C) there's really not a whole lot going on.

Don't forget to join us this weekend for another rocking edition of Saturday Night Karaoke, live and loud at the Iron Horse Tavern from 10pm-1am.

I mentioned this on Facebook, and I'll mention it here: I made Purple Rain off limits. It's just too much to hear it for now. I'll revisit the decision eventually, but- for the foreseeable future- don't bother turning in a slip with it listed.

Just a though.
A man imprisoned at a federal prison in Colorado on weapons charges claims he is the biological son of Prince- and has filed paperwork in a Minnesota probate court requesting DNA testing for the purposes of being named the singer's "the sole surviving heir."
In an affidavit filed today, the man's mother claimed that she met Prince in July 1976 at a hotel in Kansas City, Missouri, they had sex, and conceived a son.
Prince's sister, Tyka Nelson, filed papers two weeks ago saying she did not believe he had a will and a trust was appointed to manage the estate.
Last Friday, a judge authorized the trust to have Prince's blood genetically analyzed should any possible heir present him or herself.

There's a "Jumanji" remake in the works? Guess I'll watch that right after the "Ghostbusters" remake. Seriously, the original was shitty enough.

Meghan Trainor evidently had the video for her latest audio crap pile removed from YouTube because it was altered in such a way as to make her look slimmer.
Too bad they couldn't have edited it in a way that made her seem talented. I guess even AutoTune isn't that powerful.

Roger Daltrey says The Who will  launch a limited edition champagne to mark the band's 50th anniversary.
'Champagne Cuvée Roger Daltrey' will be available next month for £95, with a percentage of the proceeds will go to Teen Cancer America- a non-profit founded by the band.
"I am very excited to have this opportunity to express my passion for champagne through this limited edition cuvée. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do," Daltrey said.

Birthdays today include: Jason Dalyrimple of Soul For Real; Young M.C.; Krist Novoselic of Nirvana; Bono of U2; Donovan; Dave Mason; and Graham Gouldman of 10cc. #MusicalBirthdays
