#WhatsHappening for December 18, 2016

Hi kids- happy Sunday. Hope you're all having a great weekend.
We'd like to take a moment to remind you that there'll be no Saturday Night Karaoke on the 24th, as the Tavern will be closing down at what would, normally, be our starting. It's Christmas Eve, after all- and the staff deserves some down time to spend with their families.

He's trying to knock you up with his eyes.
In case you missed it, Mick Jagger welcomed his eighth child to the world 10 days ago.
The Rolling Stones front man and his 29 year old girlfriend, Melanie Hamrick, welcomed a baby boy that they named Deveraux Octavian Basil Jagger to their family in New York City on December 8.
A statement from Jagger's publicist said that "Mick was at the hospital for the arrival. Mother and baby are doing well, and we request that the media respect their privacy at this time."
Jagger's other seven children range in age from 17 to 45. Oh, and he has five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
And they say money can't buy love ('cause seriously- at this point, it can't be his looks anymore, if it ever really was).

Patti Smith needed two tries at getting through Bob Dylan's "A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall" at the Nobel Prize ceremony in Stockholm last week.
The singer forgot the lyrics to the song's second verse and had to ask the orchestra to start over. "I apologize. I'm sorry, I'm so nervous," Smith said.
In an essay published by the New Yorker earlier this week, Smith wrote that the flub happened because she was "overwhelmed with nerves by the enormity of the experience," not because she forgot the words to A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall.

Lionel Richie and Mariah Carey have announced a joint tour, called "All The Hits", which kicks off in Baltimore on March 15.
Tickets went on sale yesterday.
Well, I'm half interested. Too bad Richie isn't performing first- I could go catch his part of the show then bail before the shrieking harpy took the stage.

Speaking of shrieking harpies- conversation at the bar yesterday afternoon:
"There's the woman who comes to karaoke night every week at the place I hang out- and sings the same damned Celine Dion song every week" says the server.
"I don't want to hear Celine Dion sing Celine Dion- much less someone at karaoke" answers the bartender.

Lauren Jauregui of Fifth Harmony was stopped by TSA agents at Dulles Airport and cited for possession after a search of her bags revealed marijuana.
Jauregui was on her way to perform a concert in Brazil, but was unable to make the show. The group performed without her.

Dolly Parton's charity telethon to benefit families affected by the recent wildfires in East Tennessee raised over $9 million.
The December 13 show will help support Parton's My People Fund that will be giving $1,000 a month for six months to families who lost their homes in the fires.

Birthdays today include: Christina AguileraSiaDMX; Grant Marshall of Massive Attack; Elliot Easton of The Cars; and The Rolling Stones' Keith Richards. #MusicalBirthdays
