I'm not gonna bother with even hinting that I'll try to do better about posting. No matter how many times I resolve to do it (even when it's not a New Year's resolution), I tend to bomb out. Take it for what it is: I'll post when I get a chance. (And, by get a chance, I mean when I'm not too tired after working all day, when I come across something I feel is worth sharing, or whatever).
And, hey, I've said this many times before: This is free, so ya get what ya pay for!

We've lost some folks since I was last here. This "biggest" one (or, at least, the one that hit me the hardest) was Christine McVie- best known, of course, as long time keyboardist/singer/songwriter for Fleetwood Mac.
I've always considered it a testament to her genius when I hear people say "oh, I love Fleetwood Mac! Stevie Nicks is awesome!" and then name Go Your Own Way, Don't Stop, or Say You Love Me as their favorite song by the group. McVie was- to people who were only casual fans- an unheralded force behind the "faces" of the band: Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham. Her voice, piano skills, and songwriting prowess were second to none, though. And all of music- and the world- is left poorer for her loss.

In the movie world, Avatar 2: The Way of Water is ruling the roost at the box office- now sitting at $1.38 billion in worldwide gross. Because Ms. Karaoke kept saying I "had to see it", I finally watched the original after 13 years.
I could've waited another 13 and I'm confident I wouldn't have missed anything. While I appreciate the technical aspects of the film, I just didn't like it. I'll admit the visuals were (mostly impressive), but it was too damned long- and many of those effects shots were unnecessary, because they took me out of the story and reminded me that I was, basically, watching a cartoon (the CGI characters- to me, anyway- often took on the look of The Clone Wars, Cartoon Network's impressive- but-still-a-cartoon Star Wars show from the 2000s). And the movie's environmental message (while apt, and very much similar to my own viewpoint) was just too ham-handed. I made it through, barely, but I think I'll skip the sequels. Or just watch The Terminator or True Lies to see a James Cameron movie I enjoy.

Reps for Jeremy Renner say Marvel's "Hawkeye" is in "critical but stable condition with injuries suffered after experiencing a weather related accident while plowing snow earlier today. His family is with him and he is receiving excellent care."
It wasn't announced where the incident occurred, but Renner has owned a home in Washoe County, Nevada for several years, and the area received heavy snowfall due to a storm on Near Year’s Eve.
