#WhatsHappening for April 19, 2020

Good Sunday morning, friends.
Hope your week has been productive. Or, at least, that you're not going bat-shit crazy. As I've mentioned before, I'm lucky enough (depending on your perspective) to still be working full-time, and- this week, anyway- overtime. I'm still tired from a marathon day Thursday.
I always try to remember this, though: things can always be worse. Even when you think you're at rock bottom, the universe can still deliver, in the immortal words of Sting, "a humiliating kick in the crotch." Things can get worse, but they can also get better. And they will.

You may not like being "stuck" at home, but there is the general welfare to consider. If you're going to protest stay at home orders, demand the reopening of "the economy," gather in groups, ignore the advice of experts- well, don't expect much sympathy if/when you get sick yourself. Because there's a fine line between between having principles and being willfully ignorant.

This week's online festivals/offerings/etc.:
  • The Detroit Music Awards will live stream tonight, beginning at 8 pm. Alice Cooper, MC50, and the Velvelettes are among the featured artists.
  • Erykah Badu will do a third show in her Quarantine Concert Series tonight at 8 pm.
  • Candace Cameron Bure hosts the Hope Rising COVID-19 Benefit Concert. The Facebook Live event will feature contemporary Christian artists and 100% of all charity benefits will go to the work of Samaritan's Purse. That starts at 8 pm, too.
  • Tomorrow, the Grammy Museum will release its digital public program with Richard Marx.
  • SPACE will livestream Miles Nielsen on their Facebook page tomorrow at 8pm.
  • Seeing as it's international pot day, Weedmaps will celebrate with Higher Together: Sessions from Home with Wiz Khalifa, Billy Ray Cyrus, Ari Lennox, Joey CoCo Diaz, Berner, and more. The show kicks off at Noon, Pacific time (though I'm surprised any of them manage to wake up that early).
  • You know- if it's pot day- Willie Nelson will be celebrating (then again, every day is pot day for Willie) by hosting Come And Toke It at 4:20 pm Central. The show will last 4 hours and 20 minutes, of course.
  • I'm not sure Cypress Hill "gets" the whole 420 thing. Their livestream kicks off at 4:10 pm tomorrow, performing
"together" live from each member's home to benefit Crew Nation, a charitable organization that helps the touring and venue crews who depend on live shows to make a living.
  • Tuesday, Third Eye Blind will give another of their weekly Quarantine Kitchen Sessions during the day on the band's Instagram feed.
  • Wednesday, the Grammy Museum will release its digital public program with Courtney Barnett.
  • SPACE will be host the Mynabirds' Laura Burhenn on their Facebook page.
  • The New Jersey Pandemic Relief Fund will host JERSEY 4 JERSEY at 7 pm on Apple Music, AppleTV, SiriusXM's E Street Radio (which is currently free on the SiriusXM app), and local TV and radio outlets in New Jersey. Halsey, Jon Bon Jovi, Bruce Springsteen, SZA, Charlie Puth, Saquon Barkley, Tony Bennett, Danny DeVito, and more are scheduled to appear.
  • The Room Service digital festival kicks off Friday with performances from Yungblud, Channel Tres, Pink Sweat$, Chromeo, Zeds Dead, Borgore, A Boogie wit da Hoodie, Gallant, Griz, Mt. Joy, Trevor Daniel, RAC, Jeremy Zucker, Shallou). Proceeds from the event will go directly to COVID-19 relief efforts, including Sweet Relief and Feeding America. The festival runs through Saturday.
  • North Carolina and CLTure will host Under One Roof  benefit concert for North Carolina artists with one hour segments Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Anthony Hamilton, 9th Wonder, Ben Folds, The Hamiltones, Petey Pablo, Tift Merritt, Jim Lauderdale, Steep Canyon Rangers, Chatham County Line, Joe Troop of Che Apalache, and The Harvey Cummings Project are scheduled to perform.
  • On Saturday, NETTA, Flora Cash, Hanson, MILCK others will perform during Twitch's virtual music festival.
  • The Grammy Museum will release its digital public program with Ben Platt on Saturday.
  • Charli XCX and Dorian Electra are among the artists who'll be featured during the  Square Garden virtual festival on 100gecs.com. The "festival" will be set in a Minecraft world and all donations will benefit Feeding America.
