Gemma Arterton will bring her tremendous... talents... to the screen as pop singer Dusty Springfield in So Much In Love that begins filming in January in the US and UK.
The film is said to focus on Springfield's trip to Memphis in 1968 to record This is Dusty, as well as her experiences in Detroit, her aborted South African tour in response to the government's policy of apartheid, and her "uncomfortable" encounters with a number of male recording industry executives.
Arterton she has "been an admirer of Dusty Springfield since I was a teenager: her effortless husky voice, the way she conveyed emotion through music, how she helped bring Motown to the UK. Dusty was ahead of her time in many ways and inspired so many future artists. She was generous, witty, mercurial, shy, extroverted and a true English eccentric. I simply cannot wait to play her."
No word on whether Arterton will being singing or if Springfield's original recordings will be used.

The estate of the late, great Prince has filed suit against a European piracy network it says is selling his music- including his final concert.
The lawsuit, filed in federal court in Minnesota last week, claims that defendants in France, Belgium, and the Netherlands are selling unreleased studio recordings and bootlegged recordings of his live performances without permission. The defendants didn’t reply to the requests for comment.

Ty Dolla $ign was arrested on possession and obstruction charges just two hours before the scheduled start of his Wednesday evening show at Lakewood.
A spokesperson for the Atlanta Police Department said the rapper was pulled over around 5 Wednesday and officers said they smelled marijuana coming from the vehicle. A subsequent search uncovered marijuana and cocaine. He was booked into the Fulton County Jail on charges of possessing less than an ounce of marijuana, possession of cocaine and obstruction of a law enforcement officer.
A judge released the rapper on bond after his court appearance Thursday morning. He's due to appear in court again on September 20.
