And, on the plus side, I like weekends off- though, as I've mentioned before, I do miss hanging out with you guys on Saturday nights. From what I've read, we're not getting back to that any time soo, either. Current models are showing things not approaching previous "norms" until next year, so I'm doubting we're all getting together any time soon- unless someone's got a huge, open field we can borrow (and some good weather).
I don't mean to be maudlin, though. Just stay safe- and, hopefully, we'll see you next year.

Look, I realize the Presidential Inauguration is a big deal, but I really hope all the commemorative performances and concerts and whatnot at being doing remotely, and aren't going to feature a fuckload of people packed into the Kennedy Center or something, or the incoming administration are fuckups from the start.
Actually, that goes for pretty much any sort of show right now: If it's not outdoors- with masks and/or distancing required- or a remote, online performance, it's a bad fucking idea.

Rapper YFN Lucci was arrested this week in connection with a December 10th shooting in Atlanta that left one man dead and another injured. Lucci, whose real name is Rayshawn Bennett, turned himself in to Atlanta Police Wednesday, the day after it was announced he was wanted on a number of charges connected to the shootings, including murder. He remains in the Fulton County jail after being denied bond due to a "jurisdictional issue", according to his attorney.

New York Dolls' co-founder Sylvain Sylvain died this week after a years-long battle with cancer.
A statement on his official Facebook page reads, "As most of you know, Sylvain battled cancer for the past two and 1/2 years. Though he fought it valiantly, yesterday he passed away from this disease. While we grieve his loss, we know that he is finally at peace and out of pain. Please crank up his music, light a candle, say a prayer and let’s send this beautiful doll on his way."
Sylvain’s death at 69 leaves just one surviving member of the Dolls' original lineup, frontman David Johansen.

Oh no! Kelly Clarkson says people were "really mean" to American Idol contestants during the show's first year, "because (they were) from a talent show." Poor thing. I mean, of course you all deserved respect and adoration because you were on TV, right? Geez.

Gwen Stefani told Today show co-host Hoda Kotb this week that a new solo album would probably be coming within the next year.
"I have all the songs. I wrote a song yesterday. I’m still writing. I’m going to write a song tomorrow and I’m just going to edit, you know, and get the best of the best. As soon as they say I can put it out. Soon."

Fleetwood Mac co-founder Mick Fleetwood has sold off his share of interests in the band’s recordings to BMG, according to an announcement released Thursday. The deal includes over 300 recordings, including the band's biggest hits, excluding work from their first two albums.
Fleetwood called the deal a "wonderfully inspiring marriage between two creative partners that understand all aspects of the business. Foremost, BMG understands the artistry and puts the artist first. If this partnership is any indication of my past, and now future, working relationship with BMG, it’s that they truly 'get it'."
BMG CEO Hartwig Masuch called Fleetwood "the bedrock of one of the greatest bands in rock" and praised his "unique talent (of bringing) together musicians of all genres and of course he is one of rock’s greatest drummers." Masuch added that the company was "proud to represent his greatest work and excited about the forthcoming launch of Mick Fleetwood & Friends."
The sale is the third in less than two months by a member of Fleetwood Mac where all or part of their catalogs have gone to music companies. Stevie Nicks sold a majority stake in her publishing copyrights to Primary Wave last month, while Lindsey Buckingham sold 100% of his writer's and publisher's share of his catalog to Hipgnosis.

So I was reading this morning about a study published in Nature by some researchers who have managed to "partially revive the brains of dead pigs after slaughter."
While the researchers go on to say the "brains didn’t regain the organized connectivity that they’d need for 'consciousness,' but some neurons exhibited electrical activity."
I mean, we're only in the midst of a global pandemic- why not toss a zombie apocalypse on top of it, too?

Johnny Flynn, who stars as David Bowie in Stardust, says the film forgoes the "bland and safe" storytelling common among musical biopics.
The film, which is out now, received no cooperation or blessing from Bowie's family or estate. Flynn says that allowed the production to avoid "suppressing" the story they were trying to tell.
"I think you could argue that this story told with the complicit cooperation of an estate would mean that it becomes a homogenised, slightly, sort of suppressed version of the story, and with all due respect to the Bowie estate and family, we just wanted to be able to tell the story that we wanted to tell," Flynn told Sky News’ Backstage podcast.
"All too often we’ve seen with musician biopics and other biopics recently that eventually things just become, I think, a bit bland and safe because of the estate, trying to kind of protect the legacy of the subject."
Flynn went on to say he thought the part was "much more interesting than doing a greatest hits jukebox musical. I think people think this is a cynical biopic in the vein of Bohemian Rhapsody or Rocketman, then they’re offended by the idea that it’s not…"
Personally, I thoroughly enjoyed Bohemian Rhapsody and Rocketman. Get On Up was freaking awesome. Walk The Line? Coal Miner's Daughter? Sid And Nancy?
Sure, there were elements of the lives of the subjects that were left out. I'm okay with that. For instance, I actually wanted to see more of the rest of the band's "life" in Bohemian Rhapsody, so I was okay with them not delving more deeply into Freddie Mercury's. Nor did I find it- or Rocketman- cynical. And I thought the latter was very forthright in presenting not only Elton John's homosexuality, but his drug use, too- without being cynical or overwrought with sentiment about either topic.
I have watched Stardust yet, but I'm looking forward to it.
