Yep, here were are on "Black Friday." Thrills. So, let me ask you a question: Did you gather with family and friends yesterday? People you hadn't been around for a while? Lots of them? Get in your hugs? Kisses?
You then, my friend, are part of the reason we're look to be skyrocketing towards half a million dead.
There's nothing noble, rebellious, or brave about refusing to listen to science, or refusing common fucking sense. Experts have been saying this shit for eight fucking months now: Wash your hands, wear your mask, stay six feet apart. Why is that so goddamned hard?
There's plenty to be thankful for without putting yourself or others in danger.

Evidently, there's some controversy about The Weeknd not scoring any Grammy nominations. I dunno. I'm so out of touch nowadays. I might recognize 15-20 artists out of the 100+ nominees.

Besides being "Black Friday", today's the day that Christmas ads really kick in, and the songs show up on the radio more and more frequently. This makes me glad that I don't listen to the radio (my car will play MP3s off a thumb drive). And I've been ignoring holiday commercials since Halloween. I can do it for a few more weeks.

Normally, I'd put up Christmas decorations today, but... I've been sitting on my ass instead. We did watch Get On Up, the 2014 James Brown biopic.
Holy shit did Chadwick Boseman nail that part. I mean, the voice, the moves. Did I say holy shit? I highly recommend it.

We also watched Yesterday about a month ago- did I mention that? Also a very enjoyable flick, with a neat premise and a lovely little bit of history tweaking that will tug at the feelings of music fans.

One other one I watched Thanksgiving day was Bacurau. I'm not sure, exactly, how to categorize this one. It's not straight horror, it's not straight thriller, it's not straight scifi. But it is good.
A warning, though- it's a Brazilian film, so at least 3/4 of the dialogue is in Portuguese. That means subtitles (which also means I watched that one solo). Still, it was quite well done- from the premise to the acting to the script to the casting.

Did I realize there was a Bowie pic released last month? I don't think I did. It's called Stardust. I'm looking for it now. I still haven't watched Rocketman yet, either, though I've heard good things about it.

And the next band up for a biopic is Heart. Ann Wilson told SiriusXM's Volume West that Carrie Brownstein has written a script for the project and will direct, as well.
Wilson said no casting decisions had been made, but that a "few actresses have come forward, but no one that's right." She added that the first draft of the script was "really cool" but was "still in development right now because of COVID slowed everything down." The story will explore the Wilsons’ childhood and end in the ‘90s- including the band's hugely successful run in the 80s- a period she calls "fake and phony."
Wilson also addressed the possibility of new music from the band- sort of.
"I've got a bunch of songs that I'm going to be really releasing… but there's all kinds of writing going on. And who knows where they're going to end up? We don't write and earmark a song, really; we just write songs. If the song really tells us that belongs with a certain entity, then that's where it goes."

A trial date has been set for the man who broke into Eminem's Detroit home earlier this year. The man was charged with first-degree home invasion and malicious destruction of a building for the April incident, where security footage shows him throwing a paving stone through a back window to gain entry.
An officer testified in preliminary proceedings that the rapper said he confronted the intruder, who told him he'd broken into the house with the intention of killing him. The man had been arrested last year for trespassing on another property he believed belonged to the rapper.
The trial date was set for April 19.
