#WhatsHappening for Friday, August 9, 2019

Dog days, am I right?

I dunno, though- it didn't seem as hot today as it has the rest of the week. Then again, even the upper 70s (where the temperature seems to stay in the shop where I work) is cool compared to the upper 90s.

Billie Holiday's Facebook page posted some list some yahoo came up with that purported to name the 30 greatest singers of all time. I told myself I wasn't gonna look, but I did.
I'm happy to see the Lady Day listed, along with Aretha, Sam Cook, and Heart's Ann Wilson- but there's a whole lot of "are you fucking kidding me?" on that list.

Willie Nelson has been forced to cancel his tour after having what he called "breathing difficulties."

Nelson tweeted the news after his Wednesday with Alison Krauss in Toledo, Ohio. The duo having been on the road since June 14 and were scheduled for 30 more shows through the end of November.

Nelson's publicist told Rolling Stone that Willie planned on returning to the road on September 6th and would make his scheduled appearance at Farm Aid in East Troy, Wisconsin, on September 21.
Nelson had to cancel performances in January of last year because of breathing difficulties while recovering from the flu.

It's been 50 years, but there's a new version of Abbey Road on the way. The Super Deluxe Edition will feature over 20 outtakes and alternate versions of the songs from the last Beatles' album- as well as completely remastered versions of the classic tracks.
Giles Martin, son of the late Sir George, oversaw the remastering. The set releases September 27th.

Korn guitarist Munky Shaffer has temporarily dropped out of the band’s North American tour as he and his wife await the birth of their daughter.
"Since our family is waiting any day now for the birth of our daughter, I won’t be performing starting on Tuesday, August 6 through Sunday, August 11. I’ll be back in Detroit. I’m going to miss you all very much on those dates.
J.R. Bareis will fill in for Shaffer.
