#WhatsHappening for October 1, 2018

Good Monday morning, kids. Hope you all had an outstanding weekend.
Since it's the first of October, it's about you got that costume ready, right? After all, our 9th Annual Costumes & Karaoke Party is just 26 days away. Here's a little something to inspire you.

Jefferson Airplane/Jefferson Starship co-founder Marty Balin died last Thursday, according to his family. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member and Grammy Lifetime Award recipient was 76.
In a statement, Balin's wife said "Marty and I shared the deepest of love—he often called it Nirvana—and it was. But really, we were all touched by his love. His presence will be within my entire being forever."
Legendary Chicago blues guitarist Otis Rush has also died from complication from a 2003 stroke, his manager confirmed.
Rush won a Grammy in 1999 for his final album, Any Place I’m Going and was inducted into the Blues Foundation Hall of Fame in 1984.
Birthdays today include: Keith Duffy of Boyzone (44); LaTocha Scott of Xscape (45); Kevin Griffin of Better Than Ezra (50); Youssou N'Dour (59); and Jerry Martini of Sly & The Family Stone (75). #MusicalBirthdays
