Twelve people were injured when a man blew himself up after being turned away from an open air music festival in Germany.
Bavarian security officials said Monday that it was unknown "if this man planned on suicide or if he had the intention of killing others."
The official added that the man's request for asylum was rejected a year ago, but he was allowed to remain in Germany because of the strife in his native Syria.
Three of the 12 victims suffered serious injuries. The explosion came just two days after a man went on a shooting spree at a Munich mall, killing nine people and leaving dozens wounded.

Concertgoers were asked to take shelter prior to the start of the show and were allowed to start returning to their seats shortly before the show began.
