The lawsuit filed by Sir Paul McCartney against Sony/ATV over his claim to songwriting credits on The Beatles' works has ended in a settlement.

McCartney's legal team filed the suit in January, asking the court to affirm his right to reclaim his copyright ownership share to the group's catalog of songs. The team cited the specific wording of the Copyright Act of 1976 which reads that "Termination of the grant may be effected at any time during a period of five years beginning at the end of fifty-six years from the date copyright was originally secured, or beginning on January 1, 1978, whichever is later."

McCartney's attorney said the "parties have resolved this matter by entering into a confidential settlement agreement and jointly request that the Court enter the enclosed proposed order dismissing the above-referenced action without prejudice."

The San Francisco Chronicle reports that the Treasure Island Festival will not happen this year- just one year removed from celebrating its 10th anniversay.

Co-founder Jordan Kurland said "A lot of factors went into our decision to take a year off. The main one being that finding a venue was taking a little longer than we wanted. But there was never a question of whether or not we would do another one."

Kurland says the festival will be back next year, with its policy of no overlapping sets and the signature 60-foot Century Ferris Wheel.

As always, I realize that I am not the target audience for "gangsta rap"- but I have to wonder if the NBA thinks all its fans are.

I ask this because it's been announced that rapper Killer Mike will be opening a new location of his SWAG Shop at Philips Arena. The shop is a a barber shop, and the name stands for Shave, Wash, and Groom.

"I’m very happy that the front porch of the Hawks is going to be host to a SWAG Shop," the rapper said in a statement. "It really is like a dream coming true because now kids are going to be coming down early just to hang out in my shop, buy a t-shirt, get a haircut and watch the game."

Or am I wrong in thinking that "Killer" is a gangsta name?

Hey kids, happy Wednesday! (And really, isn't any day that brings us closer to the weekend a good day?)

A bit more from the laws regarding fireworks in the state of Georgia: 
- It's illegal to shoot off fireworks on roads or highways, or within 100 yards of a hospital, nursing home or prison.
- Fireworks may not be used in a park, historic site, recreational area or other property owned by cities or counties unless special permission has been granted.
- It's illegal (and kind of stupid) to set off fireworks while under the influence.
- (I'd think this one would be obvious) Detonation of fireworks indoors, or within 100 yards of a nuclear power facility, gas station, electric plant, water treatment plant, waste-water treatment plant, any public or private substation is illegal.

The National Council on Fireworks Safety offers the following fireworks safety tips:
- Read the caution labels.
- Wear safety glasses.
- Light one and quickly move away.
- Never relight a "dud." Wait 20 minutes and then soak in a bucket of water (which you should always have handy- along with a working water hose).
- Dispose of spent fireworks by wetting them down and place in a metal trash can away from any building or combustible materials until the next day.
- Leaves the pets at home. Humans know (usually) what the hell the things are and we jump- dogs and cats don't know what the hell's happening. And, if you're detonating around your house, put your pet in a safe, interior room to minimize their exposure to the sound.
- Make sure your pet has an identification tag, in case it runs off during fireworks.

Ever just not feel like eating? 
I'm a "solid" fellow, so I can safely skip a meal, but I just haven't been hungry since last week. I mean, I am eating because I know I need to, but I'm just not "feeling" it.

Well, when I saw this headline, I was excited for a second. Then, I reread it and realized they were talking about their "news" division and not the channel. 

Ugh. I just realized Justin Bieber is left-handed. I don't care to have that in common with him, damnit.

The Recording Academy has announced that the 2019 Grammy Awards will will return to Los Angeles for four years beginning in 2019. The announcement today comes on the heels of a the Academy signing a four-year deal to hold the show at the Staples Center.
"We very much consider Staples Center our home and are grateful for the successful relationship we've cultivated throughout the years with AEG and the entire Staples Center team," said Recording Academy president and CEO Neil Portnow. (I'm not sure how that aligns with the show being held in New York next year, though.)
Officials also said they'll "leave the door open for a return to the East Coast" in the future.
